From ICOSA Collective: "ICOSA is proud to present a partnership between their Window Dressing and Soundscapes projects: Ms Cashmere: Banner of Love. About the Exhibition Banner of Love is a continuously scrolling marquee programmed to display an exhortation regarding grief and joy, referencing these as extremities of the cyclical human experience of love. Ms Cashmere includes a Soundscape field recording with an instrumental composition and sound bowl accompaniment to be played on loop outside the ICOSA Window. The goal of this composition and installation is to nourish the spirit, mind, and soul of those who partake by promoting deep breathing and contemplation through intuitive sound healing. While the visual portion will be on view for one week, the audio will run through February 16. About the Artist Ms Cashmere is a first-generation Filipino/Vietnamese/Chinese-American artist working with many forms of mixed media including public installation, collage, textile, music and collaboration through community archival work. She started the Cashmere Loveline project in 2021 - a grassroots Love Research database and anonymous hotline to receive reflections to the prompt, “what do you know about love?” This project continues to grow and be informed by each installation and response. Cashmere’s work utilizes mixed media to reflect the nuance of mixed lived experiences and centers themes of the transcendent nature of love, rooted in the understanding that every individual can create healing by finding ways to heal themselves and extending vulnerability to empower others to navigate paths toward wholeness. About the Venue ICOSA’s Window Dressing highlights the work of new members, emerging, local, and underrepresented artists with short-run shows on view while the main gallery is closed for installation. Window Dressing artists explore the potential of our storefront window space, experimenting with the possibilities of limitation. Exhibitions are on view 24/7 through the gallery’s front glass. The Soundscape Project consists of sound works played via an outdoor stereo system in the breezeway at the Canopy Complex (916 Springdale Road), from sundown to sunrise each day. Each month ICOSA will feature a new sound artist, culled from local, national, and international artist submissions. Each monthly featured artist’s work will be played on a loop and will be accessible to the public free of charge. The Soundscape Project provides sound artists a unique and specific platform for their work, dedicated to the act of listening."
